Reverse Brief
Design a website, poster, and animation to celebrate Bats' 30th year anniversary. This event will host three plays that are interpretations of Warren Maxwell's songs and lyrics. Choose these three songs that will be used for the plays and decide on a common theme that will inform the title, as well as guide the chosen visual style. Include:
- A title that is easy to remember, embodies the concept and visualises the essence of the plays
- A transmedia campaign that tells the story of Bats' journey, and is appropriate in terms of the target audience.
- A visual system that is consistent with the chosen season across different media - this includes the choice of typography, styles, colours, imagery...
(We have chosen to design a website, posters and animate advertisements for social media: e.g Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, as this is appropriate for the target audience.)

Season Title
Season Title
We have decided to name our season "The Bats Season of Rythm" we felt that this reflected our themes of the celebration of life particularly in reference to life cycles and the ups and downs of life being used as a metaphor for different beats and tempo especially with this season being based on music.
We also thought this could be really interesting to explore visually and it will be interesting to add sound into our animation and other forms of media as another visual layer.

Target Audience
Target Audience
- People that have grown up with Bats: celebrating the cycle of life
- New Bats audience members (younger)/new generation that are starting on their journey with Bats
-Trying to create something that relates to all stages of life so everyone can relate to the plays in some way
- Mainly focusing on a social media marketing campaign (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram) alongside a few posters at bus stops and in the city where these people will be
- Because we are looking at a wide target audience, the aesthetic of these advertisements and posters must be attractive, approachable and vibrant to multiple age groups. For example, a minimalist, modern design approach is not appropriate in this context.

We chose this animation (only a snippet is shown above) to analyse and share in class because of the simple lines and shapes used. The colours are also appropriate for the event, and the fast movement represents New York.

Warren Maxwell lecture notes
Lecture notes on Warren Maxwell's explanation of his songs. Also my first introduction and impression of his music and lyrics. I found his observation of humans and his commentary on land rights the most interesting.
Second Lecture: Visual interpretations of songs
